Tips To Tackle a Job in Sales After Studying Management

Getting out of one of the top management colleges in ahmedabad, you don’t find many taking up jobs in sales. Marketing, sure. But sales? Not so much. And it has probably got something to do with sales not being as ‘strategic’ as marketing, and so on. But, if you are one of those people who, after getting their mba admission in ahmedabad or PGDM, went for a career in the forbidden field, you might do well with these tips:

Approach your career in sales as a sales person

Going in the field as someone who’s done a great lot of reading, and being a know-it-all won’t really help. The best way, of course, would be to approach the sales job as a sales person. You as a sales professional, will think in terms of how your client sees your product how they would react to it, how well could you pitch in the idea to your prospects in order to make a successful sale, and so on. You should bring a good mixture of all the theory you have read with the practical situations that you face.

Do not rush into being a manager

Learn first Your MBA or mba admission in gujarat must have gotten you ready to a great extent, no doubt, but the knowledge that you’d get with the hands-on experience cannot be compared with anything else. So, learn from people around you, and instead of taking the ropes and starting operating, learn how to hold them properly. So, unless you don’t have a prior experience as a sales executive or manager, it would be better to deal with things in a levelheaded manner, with as much humility as you can muster. Your strengths and the company’s needs – do they bear similarities? As a pgdm student, you will definitely have acquainted yourself with all the basic skills needed to get this job. But, actually knowing what it is that you’re good at, and how that would help you in achieving your company’s target and its goals more effectively. So, approach your job as you would any other – with a lot of optimism and humility, and make the best out of it!
